Transformers Armada was the first Transformers line I was exposed to, and Hot Shot was the first toy I got from that line. Sadly he did not make it through childhood in one piece, and even if he had he is a deeply flawed toy/representation of the character. In the 2000’s an updated generations version of the design was released, however sadly due to clashing vehicle junk on his back the figure was severely inhibited in robot mode and had a tendency for parts to fall off during transformation. The goal of this project is to produce a representation of the character as accurate to the original show as possible while living up to modern standards of articulation and sculpt
At present I am largely working on the sculpting of the body. Several parts are hidden in vehicle mode so I am working on pinning down the aesthetic of these before moving forwards. I have a few mechanics in mind to allow for a functional transformation while dodging the compromises of the original toy, however it is still early days in the design process and I expect this figure to require a few passes both on the engineering and sculpt front. Still, the initial blockout looks promising and has me very excited to keep working
