Tarn is a fan favourite character from the critically acclaimed MTMTE IDW Transformers comics. His design has become iconic within transformers despite his relatively small number of appearances in the franchise. Being from that comic run, he has only ever had a Cybertronian space vehicle mode, and as such I thought it would be a neat idea to try and take as comic accurate Tarn robot mode and design it to turn into an approximately earth-style tank mode. This project 

I bashed out this design over a 3 day weekend while home alone during my stay in Georgia. With nothing else to do I listed to audiobooks and did between 10-14 hours of CAD a day. The result is a fairly impressive render which sadly just isn’t quite functional as a transformer. The engineering is all there, the parts locations make sense and should work, but the connective engineering is at present inadequate and when I returned to the project a few weeks later after returning home I found it would need a chunk of fundamental reworking. I think the concept and styling holds up quite well, and this is definitely a project I want to complete one day, but for now it doesn’t line up with the creative direction I’m headed in
